Welcome to Varina Post 233

Since our charter in July 1946, our American Legion Post has been welcoming Veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country. Joining our Post enables you to continue serving God, Country and Community. Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our preamble.

The wonderful patriotic citizens of the Varina community, and those who visit our facility are learning that Varina Post 233 is making a comeback. We are much different that what we used to be. However, we pay homage to the hard work put in by our former legionnaires.  We are especially proud of the contributions made by the late Past Commander Fred Small. He is a huge part of the legacy of Varina Post 233.  The post owes a debt of gratitude to the Small family of Legionnaires. Current leadership and members appreciate the foundation that was laid by those that came before us.  Even as we stay busy modernizing the Post now; we understand that progress means nothing without the labors of those who went before us.  as we bring  in new member and new ideas, we will be mindful of that.

We offer our members the opportunity to maximize the use of technology. The goal of building strategies to improve interactive buddy checks works well for distant and medically challenged members. We are also very proud to be one of the few posts to have blinded and low vision veterans in key leadership positions throughout our post.

Join our Post and become a part of a Legion family that believes you do what you can do, while placing no worries on what you can't do. If physical service is not in the "can-do" box, we are happy to accept you as a Booster or Sponsor. 100% of the monies raised are given back to the our community in some way.  With your help, we can continue sponsoring scholarships for our children; providing aid and assist to our local needy Veterans, and their families. In addition any contribution supports financially worthy community programs and projects.
