Post Location

Varina Post 233 Is located on the Far East side of Henrico county not far from the Richmond International Airport.  We are nestled in the beautiful country living that is called Varina.  Our location is easily accessed from Interstate 295 or route 5. We are physically directly across from McGeorge Field and the Ruritan Club.  Our Building is White, has Blue Shutters, a Blue Door, and a RED Door.   Our Address is 8088 Recreation Road Henrico, VA 23231.  We hope to see you soon.

1. From South Petersburg Travel on 295N and take exit 22B (Varina). You are also travelliing on Route 5 West. Continue straight.  Pass the Four mile church on your right.  It has a white fence. Then pass Food Lion on your left Pass the Dollar General on your right and immediately look for Recreation Road on your LEFT and then TURN LEFT. If you pass MILL Road you have gone too far, so turnaround. Continue down Recreation Road until you see the Huge American Legion Sign on your Right. 

2. From 895 take the New Market Road Exit then turn left at the first light onto Route 5 East (New Market Road).  *If you see a few churches on your right hand side, You are doing very well. Once you pass Ronnie's BBQ (Near Wilson Road), You are almost home free. PASS MILL ROAD Then start Looing for the LEGION SIGN & RENT OUR Building Signs. You may also notice the RURITAN sign. TURN RIGHT ONTO RECREATION ROAD. If you pass the Dollar General store on your left or see the Valero (Strath Road) you have gone too far, so turn around. Continue down Recreation Road until you see the Huge American Legion Sign on your Right. Our building has a Blue Door and the main door is RED.  The windows have blue shutters.

3. From downtwon Richmond on Route 5E travel  east until you pass Varina Library, Evenually you pass Ronnies BBQ on right slow down. Once you pass Ronnie's BBQ (Near Wilson Road & New Market) You are almost home free. PASS MILL ROAD Then start Looking for the LEGION SIGN & RENT OUR Building Sign. You may also notice the RURITAN sign. TURN RIGHT ONTO RECREATION ROAD. If you pass the Dollar General store on your left or see the Valero (Strath Road) you have gone too far, so turn around. Continue down Recreation Road until you see the Huge American Legion Sign on your Right. Our building has a Blue Door and the main door is RED.  The windows have blue shutters.

4. From 64, Take 64E, Get off Laburnum Exit, Take to Route 5 East  New Market Rd East Turn Left. You will see a few churches on your right hand side. You are doing very well. Once you pass Ronnie's BBQ (Near Wilson Road & New Market) You are almost home free. PASS MILL ROAD Then start Looing for the LEGION SIGN & RENT OUR Building Sign.THEN TURN RIGHT ONTO RECREATION ROAD. If you pass the Dollar General store on your left or see the Valero (Strath Road) you have gone too far, so turn around. Continue down Recreation Road until you see the Huge American Legion Sign on your Right.  

Hints: Route 5 and New Market Road are one and the same. 

Next Hint: If travelling south of Petersburg, traveller may  consider switching over from 95 or 85 or 460 to 295 for more effecient travel.Then follow instructions #2

Colonial Heights and some Chester travellers might consider Route 10, then taking Rivers Bend to 295N and follow from instructions #2 after that.
